Refund Policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains what you can get back and when. It covers two very different kinds of money, and the difference matters: what you pay Sepia Labs for your subscription and usage, and what your own customers pay you through Sepia.
1. Your subscription
Subscription fees already paid are non-refundable, and we do not pro-rate partial periods — the same rule stated in our Terms of Service. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for; you will simply not be charged again.
Two exceptions we honour without argument: obvious billing errors and duplicate charges, which we correct as soon as you flag them, and anything a law that applies to you requires us to refund.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not retroactively refund the period you are in. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
2. Usage-based charges
Usage — AI credits, messaging, and anything else billed by consumption — is not refundable once consumed, because the cost is incurred with our providers the moment the work runs. If a feature fails and produces nothing, you are not charged for it; if you believe you were charged for work that did not land, contact us and we will check the logs.
Unused credits do not expire while your account is active, and are not redeemable for cash.
3. Duplicate or erroneous charges
If you are billed twice for the same period, or billed after a valid cancellation, we refund it in full. Tell us and we will fix it — you should not have to dispute it with your bank.
4. Payments your customers make through Sepia
When someone books, buys a ticket, or pays an invoice through your Sepia workspace, that money goes to your Stripe account, not ours. You are the merchant of record. You set the refund terms for your own customers, you issue those refunds, and you own the chargebacks.
Sepia gives you the tools to issue a refund and keeps your records in sync when you do. We cannot refund your customer on your behalf, and we are not a party to that transaction. A guest asking for their money back should be asking you, not us.
5. Cancelling an event
For Lava Lamp events, the Lava Lamp Terms apply: if a host cancels without providing the purchased event, the host must offer a full refund of the ticket price and mandatory charges collected for that ticket. This requirement takes precedence over a conflicting host policy. The host must initiate the refund; cancelling does not move money automatically.
Cancelling an event in Sepia notifies your guests. It deliberately does not automatically refund anyone — refunding is a money decision, so it stays an explicit action you take, per ticket or in bulk. That is by design, not an omission.
6. How to ask
Email us with the account and the charge in question. We aim to respond within 2 business days — the same commitment stated in our Terms of Service.
